Shortbarrel was born in 2015 as a tight knit group of bourbon enthusiasts in Atlanta and has grown into one of the most exciting names in American whiskey. Founded by longtime friends Adam Dorfman, Clinton Dugan, and Patrick Lemmond, Shortbarrel began with a shared love for the hunt, the pour, and the stories that live inside every bottle. What started as a passion project quickly became an obsession, leading the team to hand select more than 350 barrels between 2016 and 2020, each chosen for character, balance, and flavor potential. The turning point came in 2020 during a Sunday tasting in Louisville, Kentucky, when a chance meeting with a barrel broker sparked the decision to create a brand of their own. Shortbarrel launched in Georgia in early 2021 and immediately gained momentum. In 2023, Shortbarrel acquired Old Fourth Distillery, Atlanta’s first distillery since Prohibition, reaffirming its commitment to reviving Georgia whiskey and honoring local legacy. In October 2025, Shortbarrel expanded opening its flagship kitchen, bar, and retail shop at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport. At its core, Shortbarrel is about more than whiskey. It is about friendships, craftsmanship, and creating memorable moments one generous pour at a time.
